This Glenboig fireclay brick was found on the Burgy Banks, Laffak, St Helens, Merseyside.
Glenboig is a Scottish brick and was made in Lanarkshire.
The Glenboig Union Fireclay Company Ltd originally started around 1836 came from the amalgamation of two brickworks: The Old Works closed in 1958, and the Star Works which lasted until about 1974.
The brick was probably used in the furnaces at Pilkingtons Cowley Hill Plate Glass Works that was not far from the bricks location.
