Cannerton Brick
Cannerton Brick

This brick was found in a wood close to Thatto Heath in St Helens. The brick mark was not very legible and so some brick detective work was required. I first looked at Inerton and this was a family name that was found in Scotland circa 1871. I searched for Scottish bricks in the Scotlands Brick and Tile Manufacturing Industry and found a a match with Cannerton? The brick had similar shape and lettering. It appears that the brick mark did not press down hard enough to give the first few letters.
The origins of the brick is Cannerton Brickworks, Banknock, Stirlingshire, Scotland.
The brick was found close to the old Roughdales site in Thatto Heath.
